JUN 23 2017 BY JENS KRISTIAN BALLE “Editorial Assignment - CB Magazine - Laurent Potdevin of Lululemon I had the pleasure of visiting Lululemon again after having photographed an editorial portrait of their CEO Laurent Potdevin for The Wall Street Journal earlier. This time it was for a feature in Canadian Business Magazine. We got to photograph Laurent in his office at the Lululemon headquarters in Vancouver. We did a wide environmental portrait and used a 4ft seamless behind the subject to separate and frame him. This was a request from the photo editor as this has been a concept and theme they have used in multiple editions of the magazine for these kind of features. We had a quick scout before the shoot day to find the best spot and which seamless colour would work for the concept and location. For lighting we used a 3ft octabank as key light and a shoot through umbrella as fill and flood light. I think it all turned out well.

LAURENT POTDEVIN A former president of Burton Snowboards and Toms Shoes, Laurent Potdevin joined Lululemon Athletica in January 2014 with a mission to put product quality and image stumbles behind the clothing retailer. Today, one can only conclude he has succeeded: Sales should surpass US$2 billion this year, aided by overseas expansion and a healthy 4% growth in comparable store sales, and the stock is once again testing its all-time highs. Born in Switzerland, Potdevin holds both an MBA and a master’s degree in engineering.
