Had the pleasure of photographing a couple of "puppies" for the 2019 VPD K9 Calendar. I only got knocked over by one of them😂

Old Yeller, Lassie, The Littlest Hobo. If you’re over 25 and you have a soul, your heart warms at the mention of these brave and loyal canine companions.

But what about the real-life hero hounds? Those for whom every day is a mix of leaping high, tunnelling low, squaring up to the baddest of the bad guys, and enduring aggressive head pats from excited toddlers?

Each year the Vancouver Police Department’s K9 Unit responds to more than 10,000 service calls ranging from criminal apprehension to explosives detection. Somehow they still find to release a calendar to raise money for The BC Childrens’s Hospital and the BC Cancer Foundation.
